Heaven Sent May Happenings

We have only about six weeks left of this school year, and then many of you will find yourselves the parents of kindergarteners, while the rest of you will be the parents of our “big” kids!  This year has gone very quickly for all of us on staff at Heaven Sent, and we’re sure as your children make these transitions, it has gone too quickly for you!

As parents ourselves, we know that the hardest thing to do is to turn over your children to someone else for any length of time. We are honored that you have chosen us as among the first “outside” people who work with your child.  For all of us who are parents, after having a total control of our child’s every move for 3, 4, or 5 years, facing the fact they are beginning to have aspects of their lives that belong only to them is very hard.  That you have been able to help and encourage your children in this major transitional step is to your credit and might even make it easier as you watch them get on a school bus for the first time…..go to school for a full day program, five days a week, instead of ½ a half day for part of the week…or any other milestones that our so deeply loved children reach.

To all of you, for your support, encouragement, and care this year, we are grateful.  If we can be of help to you, especially those of you who are in your last full month of association with Heaven Sent, please call on us for anything, We want to continue to hear from you, and it is always a pleasure seeing “our” angels all grown up.

During the month of May we will be transitioning from our Community Helpers Unit and diving into our Transportation Unit in our 4 year old programs.  We have many exciting days planned this month as well as many special visitors scheduled to come and talk to us about their jobs.  We end our units with Box Car Day on May 24th where our 4 yr olds will create their own car out of boxes and pretend to drive around town. Our 3 year old angels will be transitioning from their Classical Literature Unit and having fun learning about baby animals this month.

Lastly, the month of May also brings the Memorial Day holiday.  Keep a look out for little Heaven Sent angels as our school will be marching in this year’s Hackettstown Memorial Day Parade.

Heaven Sent offers our students a developmental preschool curriculum in a loving environment and Christian nursery school.  We believe that all children are unique and wonderful creations of God, and need to be treated with dignity, love, and respect.

Heaven Sent does everything with our school’s motto in mind:  “Childhood should be a journey, not a race”.

Heaven Sent is a ministry of The First Presbyterian Church of Hackettstown, NJ, and is fully licensed by the office of licensing of the NJ Division of Youth and Family Services.  We are located at 298 Main Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840

Heaven Sent students enjoy a variety of special days throughout the year.  From holiday celebrations to color-themed days, a mid-winter beach day and comfy and cozy “slumber party” day we enjoy appealing to the creativity and imagination of our angels.  Other special days throughout the year include Silly Sock Day, Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday, Teddy Bear Day, My Favorite Thing Day, and Box Car day.

Heaven Sent angels and their families celebrate family fun and creativity with our Creative Family Fun experience.  Several times throughout the school year, children and their families work together to fashion an art project at home that the children then bring in to show their classmates.  Some of the Creative Family Fun activities have included Paper Cup Critters, "Disguise a Turkey to save it at Thanksgiving!", Decorate a Christmas tree, "mini-me" and an "All About Me" poster.

Our angels are so proud when their family members can visit our classrooms.  We offer a variety of opportunities for parents, grandparents, and/or older siblings to be part of the fun!  Each year, parents can sign up for our Stay and Play program where they take part in the free play part of our morning, our Share a Story (or Two!) opportunity where they read to their child’s class, and our Holiday Helpers, where they help out with our holiday celebrations!
